Trained and educated in fine arts and illustration since age 12, I have deep experience in both creating and directing traditional art. Growing up, I took group art lessons in my neighborhood, where we sat around a ping pong table. I was immediately inspired and driven to express my imagination. This passion continued into high school, where I took art classes at every opportunity. At the Art Institute of Pittsburgh, my teachers were accomplished illustrators who taught me fine art principles and illustration techniques relevant in the business world. In 1988, I was hired to illustrate and design for The Washington Times. During my tenure, I illustrated a wide range of stories, worked with staff artists and directed freelance illustrators. Being an artist makes me a better designer.
